Family Health Project is built on a simple, game-changing idea:

The first three years are crucial for a child’s brain development, and financial stability during this time can shape their future. Nearly 1 in 5 children in America grow up in poverty, which can significantly impact brain development and lead to poor health outcomes. That’s why we give first-time moms $400 a month—direct to a debit card, no strings attached—for three years. They use it for essentials like food, rent, childcare, and medical care—whatever their family needs most. Every dollar donated goes directly to families. Our pilot programs prove that direct giving isn’t just impactful—it’s scalable, sustainable, and life-changing.

Impacts of children living in poverty:

Children raised in poverty face economic and social stress that puts them at a disadvantage, leading to:

  • Slower brain development

  • Poorer health and developmental delays

  • Higher likelihood of abuse or neglect

  • Higher likelihood of living in unhealthy neighborhoods

  • Poorer long-term outcomes

How the Program Works:

100% of donations from individuals go directly to moms in need

Family Health Project, an independent 501(c)3 organization, is funded solely by private philanthropists.

We’re excited to share that Family Health Project has been awarded a $75,000 grant from the Cummings Foundation—one of 150 nonprofits selected from 715 applicants in a highly competitive process. The funding, distributed over three years, will go directly to families living in deep poverty and brings us one step closer to launching a third cohort of 15 new moms and babies.

We are grateful for the generous support from the Tower Foundation and the Cummings Foundation

Your gift enables us to help more new moms.
